A while ago I was wondering how the city trees cope with all the pollution, they seem so out of their comfort zone, so far away from their natural habitat with all the concrete and fumes surrounding them. This is what they had to say for themselves:
“We’re ok. It does wear us down but sometimes our green areas are appreciated more because the contrast is greater. But we work twice as hard to combat the pollution. You will also be doing the same in your bodies. Your life of conveniences does not, always, make it easier on your selves.
“The streets smell but the people are fascinating. Towns, although polluted, breed diversity and are often the hub for where change springs from. So need both …we need the friction and the cutting edge and also the stillness and the peace to absorb it, to process change and integrate.”
